A RESPONSE TO INSURRECTION
A statement by Dr. Jerrold D. Green, President & CEO
The violent and unlawful insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, has again highlighted the deep divisions in our country. At the Pacific Council on International Policy we stand for civility, respect, and the rule of law. Respect for one another as fellow citizens and reverence for the democratic process are at the heart of everything that we do. We continue to believe in the sanctity of the Constitution, a free press, freedom of expression, and all of the instruments of a vibrant democracy.
As an international policy organization, we at the Pacific Council condemn in the strongest possible terms the violent assault on our institutions and values that serve as a model for democracies around the world. The American people as well as the global community are watching.
As a country, we must make a collective commitment to allow the principles that have guided our democracy to prevail over anti-democratic instincts and actions. The Pacific Council remains committed to helping our country move forward through this difficult time.
