Balkans Delegation Gallery

April 2024

In April 2024, the Pacific Council on International Policy organized a five-day delegation to the Balkans, visiting Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Serbia. The group engaged in three embassy briefings, met with two heads of state, and interacted with non-governmental organizations to explore key topics including Balkan geopolitics, E.U. integration, Kosovo-Serbia relations, economic and political challenges, migration issues, infrastructure projects, and more.

During the delegation's visit to North Macedonia, which coincided with campaigns for the presidential elections on May 8, 2024, discussions centered around election dynamics and their implications for the country's future. The delegation's interactions with local stakeholders provided insights into democratic governance processes and their impact on regional stability and development.

Through direct engagement with ambassadors, USAID directors, professors, and NGO representatives, the delegation gained a nuanced understanding of the complex issues shaping the Balkans. The experience highlighted the region's aspirations for stability, prosperity, and integration. A more in-depth analysis of the delegation alongside key takeaways will be published in our upcoming report.
