MEET OUR NEW MEMBER CLASS

We are happy to announce at the end of July our Membership Advisory Committee voted in 56 new members to the Pacific Council. Our newest members come from a multitude of different industries and locations across our country and globe but all with a common thread: their dedication and commitment to international affairs.

What better way to get to know our summer election class than by hearing from them ourselves. We reached out to several members from this election to get their thoughts on what excites them about joining membership at the Pacific Council.

“In these times of uncertainty and disruptions around the world, I feel that joining the Pacific Council will provide me with in-depth understanding and intellectual dialogue of international policies and their impact on the global community, which also directly relates to our local communities.” — Sandra Chen Lau, Vice President of Development, Japanese American National American Museum in Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)

“I was immediately drawn to the Pacific Council’s local-to-global mission. Joining a community of like-minded professionals focused on the political and economic strength of our region—as well as the broader Pacific Rim—offers an invaluable opportunity for learning, growth, and fostering new relationships.” — Lulio Vargas Cohen, Customer Success Manager, Public Sector, Docusign (Long Beach, CA)

“As a career public-school educator, I am keenly interested in finding better ways to prepare and position students to compete globally. As a member of the Council, I look forward to sharing my expertise in this area and to connecting with influential thought leaders also committed to that endeavor.” — Anthony Terrell, Adjunct Professor, Graduate School of Education and Human Development, George Mason University (Washington, D.C.)

“As an urban planner who cares deeply about the relationship between the local and the global, I grow as a professional through the Pacific Council's programming on the many ways in which Los Angeles shapes and is shaped by the world.” — Michael Ngyuen-Robertson, J.D. Candidate, Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law (Dallas, TX)

“I have been most impressed by the Pacific Council’s leading commitment to local engagement on international policy. I am privileged to now join the Council's membership community, and look forward to participating in our organization’s efforts aimed at enhancing understanding and promoting inclusive voices in global affairs.” — Frances Arricale, Independent Consultant, Government Relations, Attorney (Los Angeles, CA)

“I am excited to join the Pacific Council because of the opportunities to not only learn from its member-leaders, but also to participate in the Council’s outreach programs. As a San Diegan and Navy veteran, I view the Pacific Council as an ideal opportunity in my home state to mesh my interest in foreign and military policy.” — Deval Zaveri, Principal, Zaveri Tabb (San Diego, CA)

Please take a look at the full roster of our summer election class to see if you recognize any names! If so, we encourage you to reach out and welcome them to the Pacific Council community. Don’t see a name you recognize? We are ramping up our fall recruitment and now accepting nominations.
