What is the name of your organization?
Sarah Sieloff: Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc.
Why the focus on international affairs?
Sarah Sieloff: We live on an urban planet. Cities matter for peace, stability, and prosperity, and amidst a changing climate, we need to make settlements more resilient, sustainable, and equitable. No one has a monopoly on good ideas, and that’s why an international outlook matters.
What are you working on these days?
Sarah Sieloff: Helping local governments in remediating and revitalizing contaminated and underutilized land to build sustainable and equitable local economies.
What made you join the Pacific Council?
Sarah Sieloff: I wanted to bring a more international dimension into my career, with a West Coast perspective and I wanted to network with people who shared these interests.
What’s your biggest takeaway?
Sarah Sieloff: PolicyWest is like a spa day for the brain. It’s always a treat.
Do you recall any particular quotes or stories from any Pacific Council events you attended?
Sarah Sieloff: At Policy West 2019, I heard a presentation by Dr. Liz Koslov, who discussed existing retreat programs in North Carolina and New Jersey, and spotlighted some of the difficult policy decisions that are already facing coastal communities. It was an eye-opening presentation, and it has continued to influence my thinking
