AMPLIFY 2022: Dr. TADIOS BELAY

The U.S. Africa Institute is a 501(c)(3) international nonprofit organization established to advance the strategic partnerships between the United States of America and Africa.

Our local to global approach informs USAI’s program design and development that empower young people through education and cultural exchange programs. USAI’s local and international programs are designed to strengthen the longstanding partnerships between the United States and Africa through cultural exchanges, academic collaboration and public diplomacy programs and help promote democracy and good governance, and improve the United States and Africa’s shared goals of regional prosperity, security, and stability.

USAI programs enhance the level of educational skills particularly in English language proficiency, and facilitate greater awareness and appreciation of both US’s and Africa’s history, culture and traditions, as well as U.S. unique democratic institutional values that anchor democratic practices, that serve as a backbone for a vibrant, diverse, cultural ecosystem.

U.S. Africa Institute believes that the shared cultural roots and historical bonds between Africa and the U.S. provide a powerful bridge between Americans and Africans an opportunity to share new learnings through education, cultural exchange, citizen diplomacy, capacity building, conflict and peace management.

As a result of USAI programs, anticipate building stronger ties and relationships between Africans and Americans, deepening their understanding of their respective culture and history that will pave the way for stronger social, cultural, diplomatic and economic ties. Community engagement, collaboration and meaningful participation and leadership of our communities are at the center of everything we do at US Africa Institute.

Our programs help students learn new languages, appreciate other cultures and gain a greater understanding about the United States of America and Africa. Over 90% of student who participated in our programs reported that their experiences significantly helped them develop their intercultural skills, adaptability, self-awareness and confidence, and access to personal and professional opportunities.

Our local and international programs are life-changing experience for many students, opening their eyes to different ways of life and promoting understanding and tolerance. From elementary through post-graduate education, global engagement and exposure can profoundly change a student’s life. This is why we need a stronger partnerships between the U.S. and in Africa.
