Barbara Lee, the highest ranking African-American woman in the US Congress, is a steadfast voice for human rights, peace and economic and racial justice who cut her teeth as a volunteer for the Black Panther Party and was the lone vote in opposition to the broad authorization of military force following the September 11th attacks. Representing California’s 13th Congressional District, the Democratic lawmaker is a proponent of safe communities, addressing hunger, environmental justice, universal health care, and just immigration policies among others.

Peabody-Award winning Filmmaker Abby Ginzberg has been producing compelling documentaries about race and social justice for over thirty years. Her most recent film, Truth to Power: Barbara Lee Speaks for Me, is an intimate, and compelling film about Rep. Barbara Lee.
